N11 Rathnew to Arklow Road Improvement Scheme - Archaeological Services Contract - Phase 1 Test Excavations and Phase 2 Resolution. The purpose of this Archaeological Services Contract is to investigate known and possible archaeological sites and other areas of archaeological interest along the route of the proposed road scheme and to investigate the remainder of the route for the presence or absence of archaeology. In addition it may include the resolution (archaeological excavation) of identified sites of archaeological interest confirmed or identified during the course of the works. Archaeological work is separated into two phases. Phase 1 Test Excavations comprises the test excavation of known and possible sites and areas. It also includes test trenching the remainder of the route and investigation of any archaeological remains identified. Reports will be necessary for all areas of testing. Phase 2 Resolution comprises the resolution of sites that may be identified by the Phase 1 Works, together with all necessary post excavation analysis and reporting. Phase 2 Works shall also include architectural and cultural heritage surveys.
