Title attributed to the contract by the contracting entity: Advanced Metering Infrastructure (Smart Metering) Pilot Project. ESB Networks is proceeding with the 1st implementation phase of an advanced metering infrastructure (smart metering). The successful bidders will be asked to provide a full smart metering systems consisting of: meters, local area network communication systems and communications devices and head end collection software. This phase will cover up to 25 000 mainly residential customers. The meters will be required to include features such as interval and register reading, import/export measurement capability, remote reconfiguration, integrated switch which can be remotely operated, local area network capability and provision of a gateway to the home area network. A compatable in home display unit for trialing in the pilot would also be desirable.
