Foras na Gaeilge invites tenders for the production of the English Frameworks (Phase 2a) for the New English-Irish Dictionary project (NEID). Phase 2 of the NEID involves the selection and preparation of the entries and other material for the electronic and print versions of the new dictionary. Phase 2a is the first step in this process and entails the development of the English text portion of the NEID, in accordance with the specifications and timescales detailed in the Request for Tenders document. The work involved in Phase 2a will comprise a number of tasks including:- - Completion of the Headword selection (up to 500 further Headwords to be selected to bring the total number of Headwords to approximately 50 000); - The production of a framework (i.e. the writing of a database entry) for each English Headword, very rich in examples, and with senses finely split, written by highly experienced lexicographers in English; - The delivery of the completed English Frameworks on a phased basis, so that the Translation phase of the project (Phase 2b) can overlap with the Frameworks phase as efficiently as possible. The development of the Frameworks will be based on the Style Guide, Templates, Document Type Definition and other specifications produced during Phase 1 of the NEID project - all of these documents are available on request.
