Content of Addiction Counselling Services The contracted agency, in co-operation with the Irish Prison Service and its partners, will provide a counselling service, with structured assessments and evidence-based counselling interventions with clearly defined treatment plans and goals. This will occur within the context of care planning within multidisciplinary teams. Induction training will be provided to familiarise individuals with working in a prison environment, to specify their responsibilities and to introduce them to the members and the workings of the multidisciplinary team. Training will be provided in relation to the National Guidelines for the Protection and Welfare of Children, 1999, 'Children First'. Counselling will be available to prisoners who are using a range of drugs including opiates, cocaine, ecstasy, amphetamines, LSD, anxiolitics, hypnotics, alcohol, cannabis and other illicit and licit drugs.
