Content of Addiction Counselling Services The contracted agency, in co-operation with the Irish Prison Service and its partners, will provide a counselling service, with structured assessments and evidence-based counselling interventions with clearly defined treatment plans and goals. This will occur within the context of care planning within multidisciplinary teams. Induction training will be provided to familiarise individuals with working in a prison environment, to specify their responsibilities and to introduce them to the members and the workings of the multidisciplinary team. Training will be provided in relation to the National Guidelines for the Protection and Welfare of Children, 1999, 'Children First'. Counselling will be available to prisoners who are using a range of drugs including opiates, cocaine, ecstasy, amphetamines, LSD, anxiolitics, hypnotics, alcohol, cannabis and other illicit and licit drugs. The counselling service will be expected to provide a range of generic counselling skills, as well as specific skills in counselling related to substance misuse and dependency. - brief interventions, - Motivational Interviewing and Motivational Enhancement therapy - 12-step facilitation programme - Relapse Prevention - Cognitive behavioural therapy which would also include problem solving approaches, development of alternative coping strategies, anxiety and stress management, anger management etc. - Harm Reduction Approaches NOTE: Further information and additional documentation relating to this notice may be available on the eTenders Web Site at http://www.etenders.gov.ie/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=40503.
