Title attributed to the contract by the contracting entity: First Contract:Srowland to Ardcull Rising Mains & Second Contract:Ardscull to Old Kilcullen Pipeline. The proposed works are located in Co Kildare between the towns of Athy and Kilcullen. The works will be procured under the following Contracts; — First Contract : River Barrow Abstraction Scheme-Contract No. 2, Srowland to Ardscull Rising Mains, — Second Contract: Kildare Water Strategy Phase 1A and 1 B: Contract 3A– Ardscull to Old Kilcullen Pipeline. i.) First Contract The Srowland to Ardscull Rising Mains Contract will involve the laying of approximately 6.75 km of 400 mm diameter and 6.77 km of 700 mm diameter ductile iron rising mains from Srowland to Ardscull. The 400 mm diameter rising main will transfer treated water from the proposed water treatment works at Srowland, Athy Co. Kildare (to be constructed under a separate contract) to Ardscull Reservoir. Approximately 5.0 km of the 400 mm diameter main will be laid in agricultural fields while the remaining 1.75 km will be laid in roads. The 700 mm diameter rising main will be laid from Srowland to Ardscull where it will connect to the 700 mm diameter main to Old Kilcullen reservoir. 4.2 km and 2.57 km of the 700 mm diameter main will be laid in fields and roads, respectively. The Contract also includes Mechanical & Electrical Works and Trenchless Technology works to be carried out by appropriate Specialists. ii.) Second Contract The Ardscull to Old Kilcullen Pipeline Contract will involve the laying of 14.5km of 700mm diameter ductile iron rising main from Ardscull to Old Kilcullen and 1.8 km of 450 mm diameter ductile iron distribution gravity main at Old Kilcullen. The 700 mm diameter ductile iron rising main will be laid in the south bound carriage way of the N78 national road. The 450 mm diameter ductile iron main will be laid in roads, 1.15 km in the N78 and 0.7km in a local road, and will replace an existing 18inch uPVC main. It will connect to the existing main on the public road at the entrance to Old Kilcullen Reservoir. From this point onwards it will travel along this local road and then the N78 and connect to another existing main on the N78 at Hacklow Crossroads. The Contract also includes Mechanical & Electrical Works and possibly Trenchless Technology works to be carried out by appropriate Specialists.
