Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: Meencrumlin Water Treatment Works Interim Improvements Contract. The proposed works will increase the capacity of the existing water treatment plant and provide acceptable treatment in accordance with the EU Drinking Water Directive. The contract involves mechanical electrical and civil engineering design and construction comprising the following -Modification to the existing treatment building to provide additional control and treatment facilities. -Relocation of existing storage silo and the provision of a new storage silo for water treatment chemicals complete with bunded walls. -Provision of new plant to facilitate increased treatment capacity comprising upgrading of existing settlement tanks, installation of an additional settlement tank and new filters. -Provision of sludge handling facilities comprising a new building, tanks and pumping stations. -The conversion of the existing sludge lagoons to washwater recovery tanks. -Improvements to health, safety & security arrangements at the facility comprising upgrading of covers, handrailing, lighting and fencing. -Construction of associated access roads at the works. It is proposed that the Project will be implemented under a design and build contract with one contractor.
