Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: Leixlip/M50 Junction. The elements of the scheme are as follows: 1) Widening of the existing road from a 2 lane dual carriageway with hard shoulder to 3 lane dual carriageway with bus lanes, including a section of split level carriageway; 2) Conversion of the at-grade signalled Newcastle Road junction to a grade separated junction with 4 slip roads; 3) Provision of signal controls on the at grade junctions between the slip roads and the realigned Newcastle Road; 4) Reconfigurationof the east facing slip roads at the Leixlip Junction; 5) Service roads totalling 1.4 km 6) Footpaths and cycletracks; 7) Closure of the gaps in the central median and construction of the median barrier; 8) Closure of Esker Lane; 9) Replacement of the Clondalkin Road footbridge and the Tandy's Lane footbridge over the N4 dual carriageway; 10) Reconfiguration of the Crowe's corner underbridge, involving filling of the light well and widening the bridge to accommodate the road widening; 11) Restrictions to traffic movements at existing at-grade junctions betwen side roads and the existing N4; 12) Minor upgrade works to Local roads and pedestrian facilities; 13) Retaining walls adjacent to the mainline carriageway and along slip roads at the Newcastle Road Junction; 14) New pavement construction and pavement overlay and strengthening on the N4 dual carriageway; 15) Fencing,safety barrier systems and drainage works; 16) Signing and lighting works; 17) Landscape environmental and mitigation works 18) Diversions and new facilities of utility services; 19) Accommodation works including accesses to properties and lands, and provision of water supplies; and 20) Ancillary works.
