Marine Institute

Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: High performance computing environment to support Marine Institute's climate change programme. Historically the Marine Institute Oceanographic models have been run on a Linux cluster with 40 dual core processors and a Gigabit interconnect. This system does not have the processing power to run the increasingly complex numerical models, which must include ecosystem components, atmospheric models, and provide a centennial forecast for climate change research purposes. The Marine Institute invites expressions of interest from suitably competent firms in connection with obtaining the ability to run the oceanographic models faster and more efficiently. This requirement could be met through several different methods, including (but not limited to) the procurement of a suitable computer system, the leasing of such equipment, the purchase of time on an existing system etc. The procedure is being awarded using the competitive dialogue procedure. The qualification questionnaire is available to download from www.etenders.gov.ie. Further information and additional documentation relating to this notice may be available on the eTenders Web Site at http://www.etenders.gov.ie/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=53697.
