Churchtown Landfill Site - Ground Investigation

Churchtown Landfill Site occupies an area footprint of approximately 9.7 hectares and it is located within the townland of Churchtown, near Lifford, Co. Donegal. The scope of the works required under this ground investigation will include the following: •One (1) rotary groundwater borehole to a maximum depth of 15m bgl, •Four (4) rotary leachate monitoring wells in waste to a target depth of 5-10m bgl. •Two (2) shallow groundwater wells along southern boundary between the waste body and the River Finn (drilled using a window sampling terrier drill rig)by hand-held window sampling techniques) to a target depth of 5 - 10m bgl, •Installation of groundwater/leachate monitoring standpipes in all boreholes;rotary borehole •Decommission one (1) borehole GW1. •Monitoring standpipes are to be developed a minimum of 5 times the well volume and until the fines are removed. •Purge all wells and undertake permeability testing within each well to assess well functionality; •In-situ testing (Hydraulic conductivity testing) in all completed groundwater monitoring wells; •Establish ground level and location of exploratory holes
