Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: Design and build of a vehicle to travel from Ireland to Turin for the City of Science Event 2010. Discover Science & Engineering (www.discover-science.ie), on behalf of the office of the chief scientific adviser and others, seeks creatve solutions for the conversion and fitting out of a special purpose service vehicle to travel from Dublin to Turin (Italy) and back for the City of Science 2010. The project will be part of a major publicity campaign in anticipation of Dublin as the City of Science in 2012. The vehicle will be used to transport a group of approximately 30 young people involved in science / communications to and from Turin via a number of European science centres. The vehicle will also be used as an exhibition stand and information point for Dublin City of Science 2012 at the Turin event. The vehicle will need to be equipped with a communications hub involving technology to allow reporting, blogging etc. back to Ireland as it travels to and in Turin. Also, the vehicle would need to be fitted out to host receptions / meetings when in Turin. The competitive dialogue procedure is being used as the use of the open or restricted procedure would not in this instance result in a contract being awarded. The procedure may take place in successive stages in order to reduce the number of solutions to be discussed during the dialogue stage(s) by applying the award criteria. The descriptive document will provide further information to the chosen participants and will include full details of the award criteria, rules and weightings being employed in the identification of the most economically advantageous tender. Where variants are acceptable as part of the solution the minimum requirements will be specified in the descriptive document.
