Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: NUIG/BUILD/042/08; Design and Build contractor for Research Projects at NUI Galway. NUI Galway is embarking on an ambitious plan to rapidly develop suitable accommodation and facilities to enhance research and innovation. It is required that these facilities are ready to operate fit-for-purpose in September 2010. To this end, the University is seeking innovative methods of procurement, value management, briefing and construction to meet this deadline. With the aid of a retained Project Management / Quantity Surveying / Cost Consultancy Services and Single Point Design Team Consortium, the University wishes to use a design and build process to procure their requirement in parallel, novating the single point design consortium to the preferred main contract bidder following a competitive process. The single point design consortium will be novated to the main contractor at the point of contract. As part of an EU Restricted Procedure, Expressions of Interest are now invited from well-resourced and suitably qualified firms, with extensive experience, in providing the following for the Research Bundle projects: — Third Level Research Facilities, — Design and Build Contracts, — Project Supervisor Construction Stage Role. The NUI Galway Research Bundle projects consist of a Bundle of 3 Projects, possible reducing to 2 depending on funding, planning etc., for Science Research facilities. It is NUI Galway’s intention to award a Contract for the 3 Projects, which could possibly reduce to 2. Responses to this Questionnaire will be assessed on the basis of their ability to carry out 2 of these Projects. The facilities will be located within the grounds of NUI Galway’s Campus and University Hospital Galway. The majority of the Research Bundle accommodation include for Translational Research, Bio-Sciences Multipurpose Research and Library Research. It is proposed the Library Research Facility will be an extension to the James Hardiman Library (a protected structure). The single point design consortium will be novated to the main contractor at the point of contract and will, become part of the contractor’s team.
