Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: NUIG/BUILD/010/07; Engineering Building Lots 1 to 13. The project involves a new Building for the Faculty of Engineering at NUI, Galway comprising the disciplines of Electrical, Hydrology, Structural, Electronic and Civil Engineering to be arranged in a School Structure. The Building is to provide accommodation for all undergraduate and postgraduate Engineering education activities at NUIG for a target population of 900 undergraduate and 200 postgraduate students. The building is a new build stand alone structure within the NUIG Northern Campus and is approximately 14,000 sq m containing the following range of accommodation: 01. Heavy duty workshops. Light use workshops. Laboratories. Lecture Theatres 05. Classrooms 06. Seminar Rooms. Office Accommodation 08. Open Plan Post Graduate / Doctor Study Space The development will involve the construction of the main Building housing the all accommodation noted above and an Energy Centre which will contain the buildings main Mechanical and Electrical services, located to the north of the main building. The building is considered as the 'visual gateway' to the North Campus and is bounded by the River Corrib and Special Area of Conservation to the East, access roadway in front of the Aras Moyola & Cairns Buildings to the West, N6 Road to the South and Woodland to the North. Applications are invited from suitably qualified Main and Sub-Contractors who wish to be considered for inclusion on the tender lists from which tenders will be invited for the following lots. Applicants should be aware that this project and lot specific elements may be executed under the new Public Works Contract (Department of Finance 2007). Contractors should refer to the attached Questionnaire for a description of the Lots.
