The Contract involves the provision of Archaeological Consultancy Services required in advance of construction of the N17 / N18 Gort to Tuam PPP Scheme for the following four stages: Stage (i) Test Excavation and Survey Services. Stage (ii) Pre-Excavation Services. Stage (iii) Excavation Services. Stage (iv) Post-Excavation and Dissemination Services. The location of the required services is on the route of the proposed M17 Galway (Rathmorrissy) to Tuam Motorway (forming part of the N17 / N18 Gort to Tuam PPP Scheme) between the townlands of Rathmorrissy to Kilmore in County Galway, Republic of Ireland. The total area of the CPO for the Contract is approximately 201ha. Stage (i) will consist of Site Specific Test Excavations by Hand, Test Excavations in Wetland, Architectural / Built Heritage Surveys, Townland Boundary Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Topsoil Stripping by Machine Near Known or Suspected Monuments, Testing by Machine at Geophysical Anomalies, a Desk-based Study and Standard Test Excavation by machine (minimum 12 % of the CPO area) in all remaining areas where archaeological features may be found. Stage (i) services are to be completed in a 16 week period from the Date of the Award of the Contract. Stage (i) services will be carried out for a fixed-price lump sum. Stage (ii) services will consist of pre-excavation preparatory work at Stage (iii) excavation sites (including fencing and the establishment of site compound, fully exposing all archaeological features and deposits forming the excavation site, pre-excavation cleaning, surveying and planning of archaeological features and deposits, and further test excavations by hand to confirm date, character, significance and extent. All Stage (ii) services are to be completed within a period of 6 weeks and within 22 weeks after the Date of the Award of the Contract. Stage (ii) services will be carried out for a fixed-price lump sum to be determined by the Clientโs Representative based on the Clientโs determination of the numbers of sites and the square meterage per site. Stage (iii) will consist of further excavations to fully investigate and record any significant archaeological features or deposits discovered at Stage (i), thus achieving 'preservation by record' of any significant archaeological features or deposits that may have been discovered. Stage (iii) services โ including excavations, preliminary reporting and proposals for post-excavation work โ are to be completed in a 26 week period, and within 48 weeks of the Date of the Award of the Contract. Stage (iii) services will be carried out for a fixed-price lump sum for each archaeological excavation site. The Clientโs Excavation Specification will form the basis of a fixed-price lump sum instruction, by the Clientโs Representative, for Stage (iii) Excavation Services based on Stage (iii) rates for this stage of the work as tendered by the Archaeological Consultant. Stage (iv) will consist of any post-excavation analyses or conservation work arising from the Stage (iii) excavations โ as agreed, the production of detailed illustrated technical reports on this work, as well as summaries fit for publication in monograph or periodical form and other dissemination products. All Stage (iv) services are to be completed within a period of 60 weeks and within 108 weeks after the Date of the Award of the Contract. Stage (iv) services will be carried out for a fixed-price lump sum calculated as a percentage of the Stage (iii) outturn cost for each archaeological site.
