UL0987 Provision of Personal Assistance Service with Disability Support Services in the University of Limerick

The requirement for an Academic Personal Assistant (PA) and the number of support hours is identified through student needs assessments carried out by the DSS unit in collaboration with individual students. The term PA will be used throughout this document to refer to both an Academic Personal Assistant and a Healthcare and Academic Personal Assistant whose particular roles are outlined in Appendix 1. Oversight of all services provided to students by UL Disability Services rests with the Manager of Disability Support Services or their nominated appointee. Provision of high-quality Academic Assistance support to UL students registered with the Disability Support Service subject to increases and/or decreases in line with annual student registrations. Flexibility of provision in line with service demands at different stages of the year and in adapting to timetable changes Emergency policy for staff replacement Flexibility of provision to support studentsโ participation in different learning environments including off campus for example field trips, conference attendances, at placement sites, online or remote
