Part 1. Background Geological Survey Ireland/DECC wishes to procure the services of a television production company to develop, produce, and broadcast the equivalent of one half hour of scientific content for each year for the years 2025, 2026, and 2027, as part of a tv science series on a nationwide broadcaster in Ireland. Part 2. Required Services A Production and Development. Content themes will be developed in association with Geological Survey Ireland/DECC and should have high production values and scientific accuracy. Themes should align with current geoscience research and could cover areas such as climate action and mitigation, energy transition, resource management, or other relevant topics. Onscreen contributions and research covered should be a mix of Geological Survey Ireland scientists/projects and scientists from Irish universities and research institutions. Final editorial decisions and ownership of content will lie with the production company but Geological Survey Ireland and featured project representatives will collaborate on fact-checking. Geological Survey Ireland and partners may wish to use some content as promotional material after broadcast and in agreement with the production company. As this is a 3-year contract, content may be progressed throughout the three years, or each year could cover discrete topics. Content should be scientific, relevant to current national and global issues, and presented in a way that is accessible to everyone. Content should follow environmental and EDI goals and values as is practicable. Production companies are invited to submit broad plans for possible content and production for each of the three years, with the greatest detail for 2025. They should address how environmental and EDI goals and values will be met and they should show details on broadcasting agreements with a nationwide television broadcaster and associated online tv content provider. Intellectual Property rights will remain with any tenders whether their tender bid is successful or not. Part 3. Required Service B Broadcast. The content must be broadcast on television and via an associated online streaming/play back system as part of a science series on a nationwide broadcaster in the year of or closest television season to production. Its initial broadcast should be at primetime or as close as it practicable. It should be well advertised and promoted by the broadcaster and/or production company but Geological Survey Ireland/DECC will assist by following any communications plan devised by the broadcaster/production company for promotion. Production companies are invited to submit details of broadcast agreements in place with national broadcasters for the annual broadcast of science series at high viewership times (prime time).
