UCD Centre for Experimental Pathogen Host research (CEPHR) is located on the Belfield campus of University College Dublin, the largest university in Ireland, and brings together researchers and research groups from across UCD who focus on infection-related research. CEPHR members comprise clinical, translational, statistical and biomedical researchers working interactively on aspects of host and pathogen research from the UCD School of Medicine, the UCD School of Biology and Biological Sciences, and the UCD School of Politics and International Relations. UCD CEPHR is dedicated to clinical and translational research in Infectious Diseases and hosts an immunology suite, a molecular virology laboratory and Biosafety level 2 and 3 laboratories. The equipment will be used to develop and implement a new CL3 high-throughput microscopy platform dedicated to study live pathogens, infected cells, or infectious clinical samples classified as risk group 3 biological agents. It will be used to visualize host cellular responses through every stage of the course of infection (acute, early resolution, latent/chronic, post treatment) and to perform quantitative analyses on the images, including levels of infection, which will be a major output of our neutralization assay.
