The PEACEPLUS Programme is a unique cross-border initiative, financed by the European Union, the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Government of Ireland, and the Northern Ireland Executive and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). The overall objective of the PEACEPLUS Programme is to build Peace and Prosperity and ensure that the Programme will leave a lasting and tangible legacy across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland. The Programme’s strategy is to continue to take the opportunities and address the needs arising from the peace process in order to boost economic growth, and stimulate social and economic regeneration and secondly, to promote social inclusion, particularly for those at the margins of economic and social life. The Programme will help to address many long-standing social and economic challenges which have, and continue to impact on communities, particularly those in rural border areas, as well as ongoing challenges that exist in urban settings. Cross-border co-operation is encouraged within all projects seeking funding under the PEACEPLUS Programme. This investment should result in a legacy of change through physical and social improvements, prompting increased social inclusion and improved cross-community and cross border relations.
