To promote best practice and bring about behavioural changes to minimise the risks to the safety of children and young persons on farms, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) is inviting tenders for the provision of children’s and young person’s farm safety initiatives. DAFM is inviting applications/tender submissions from groups and organisations, that have the capability and vision, to develop and deliver projects which address children’s and young person’s safety on Irish farms by assisting teachers in educating their students about the potential dangers associated with farming and agriculture, and projects which promote awareness of children’s and young person’s safety on farms at shows and events. The projects must be delivered by November 2025. The projects will be funded under the Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine’s dedicated Farm Safety budget. Successful initiatives will cover one of the following themes/lots: • Lot 1: Promoting farm safety awareness among primary school pupils Groups who will engage in educating primary school pupils about the potential dangers associated with farming and agriculture may tender for this lot under this theme. • Lot 2: Promoting farm safety awareness among second level students This theme seeks to support projects which will encourage greater awareness among second level students of their safety as young people visiting, living on or helping on farms. In addition to promoting Farm Safety Awareness among all second level students, the successful project will deliver specific programmes for Transition Year and Agricultural Science Students. • Lot 3: Promoting children’s and young person’s safety on farms at public events and shows Groups who will engage in supporting awareness of farm safety among children and young persons at events and shows may tender for this lot under this theme. The project aims to encourage greater awareness of farm safety among children, young persons and their parents. Proposal must set out how children’s and young person’s safety on farms will be promoted at events and shows. The proposal must identify the events and shows that it plans to attend and include a costing for each event/show.
