St Anne’s Community Nursing Unit provides 24-hour nursing care (health and social care) to those deemed to need continuing care. Current residents are high to maximum dependent in relation to their daily activities. The existing bed complement is 24 beds and the centre’s registration limit it to that number of residents. The HSE have commissioned a Design Team to design a 40-bed unit, which includes a 10-bed dementia unit, increasing residential care services on this site. Prior to the main construction contract for the development, tree and hedgerow removal is required across the site. An Arboricultural Assessment Survey, which includes the tree and hedgerow removal has been completed to assess the impact of the proposed development layout on the tree vegetation within and adjoining this site area and to look at the necessary measures that will need to be undertaken to help retain the trees shown for retention free from adverse impacts for the duration of the construction period. A Tree Protection Plan (Arboricultural Assessment Survey Appendix 3 - Drawing No NL0015-2) has identified the tree vegetation and hedgerows to be removed to facilitate the development or as part of management with ‘Red’ hatched crown spreads and those trees and hedgerows that it is proposed to retain with a ‘Green Hatched’ crown spread. The HSE are seeking specialist Tree Surgeons to carry out the tree and hedgerow removal in accordance with the enclosed tender documents. The tree and hedgerow removal must be complete by the end of February 2025.
