Provision of Home-Based PSA Blood Test and Associated Services

University College Dublin ( UCD )

Prostate cancer is the commonest cancer in men in Ireland and early diagnosis is possible using the prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood test. Together with other EU members, a research group based in UCD are performing a pilot prostate cancer screening study in Ireland and intend on assessing the use of a capillary blood sample to assess a manโ€™s PSA blood level (in ug/l). The project wants to assess the feasibility and acceptance of this approach by Irish men. The study group will supply the patientโ€™s names and addresses to the successful tenderer, and the successful tenderer will issue the PSA kits to the individual men, identifying each with a Study ID. The men will return the samples by mail to the successful tenderer for processing. The individual samples are to be analysed and the results shared with both the patient and the research group. The contract is for the provision of Home-Based PSA Blood Test and Associated Services delivered by the successful tenderer as set out in the Specification of Requirements contained in the tender document. The contract period is for one (1) year from July 2024 to July 2025.
