Monaghan County Council (the Contracting Authority), in association with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), are developing a scheme to a upgrade a 28km section of the existing N2 between Clontibret and the Northern Ireland Border. The project is called the N2 Clontibret to Border Road Scheme. With reference to TII's Project Management Guidelines, the project is currently at Phase 3 (Design and Environmental Evaluation).The Tender is for Archaeological Services in the form of Stage (i)i Geophysical Survey Services for the N2 Clontibret to Border Road Scheme. The Stage (i)i Geophysical Survey will consist of 20 No. survey locations, covering a total survey area of 56.65 hectares. Of the 20 No. survey locations, detailed magnetometry and EMI apparent electrical resistivity (or earth resistance) is required at 8 No. survey locations (Area of 15.46 hectares) Whilst, detailed magnetometry only is required at the remaining 12 No. survey locations (Area of 41.19 hectares). The project is covered by the provisions of the code of practice for Archaeology agreed between TII and the Minister of Arts, Heritage, Regional , Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs (2017).
