Mayo County Council, in association with the Kilmovee Heritage Committee and local landowners, is developing a heritage trail, incorporating a number of significant archaeological sites in the townlands of Ballinrumpa, Rusheens West and Carrownlacka in Kilmovee. Included on the trail are 6 sites, including: Site 1 โ Carrownlacka Megalithic Tomb (Drawing No. 001) Site 2 โ Fulachta Fiadh (Drawing No. 002) Sites 3 and 4 โ Early Monastic Site and Bullaun Stone (Drawing No. 003) Sites 5 and 6 โ Holy Well and Ogham Stone (Drawing No. 004) The sites are located on agricultural land. An access pathway (approx. 2.5 m wide) will lead from the local public roadway along the existing field boundary to each of the sites. Fencing is required along the access pathways to the sites. The required fencing is detailed on the drawings and includes - installation of Fence Type B and Gates as per specification. The surface of the pathways will be the existing natural grass surface.
