The provision of HPV primary screening and secondary screening by way of liquid-based cytology for CervicalCheck the national cervical screening programme in Ireland
CervicalCheck provides free cervical screening to women in Ireland aged 25 to 65 and has been in operation since September 2008. The number of women screened annually can range from approximately 200,000 in 2019 to an anticipated 320,000 in 2021, with known reasons for the variation. CervicalCheck is a commissioner of all services along the cervical screening pathway including approx. 4,500 sample takers, laboratories, 15 colposcopy units and 12 histology units. In March 2020, CervicalCheck transitioned to a primary HPV primary screening programme with reflex cytology test for all participants. Screening intervals changed from 3 years to 5 years for women over the age of 30. Women between the age of 25-29 will continue to be screened at a 3-year interval.

Objective criteria for choosing the limited number of candidates
Candidates that satisfy the minimum requirements for participation (as detailed below in Section 3.2) (the “Minimum Requirements for Participation”) will be evaluated and ranked based on an assessment of the short-listing criteria as set out at Section 3.3 below.
The Minimum Requirements for Participation are simple pass/fail criteria - these are requirements that must be met in full, and, if passed, play no further role in calculating the Candidates overall score. If failed, the Candidate will be eliminated from the Competition. The short-listing criteria are qualitatively evaluated. Each such criterion is given an allocation of marks (weighting) which will be used to calculate the Candidate’s overall score.
The intention is that the five (5) top scoring Candidates will be selected and invited to the next stage of the Competition (provided that sufficient numbers are qualified from those participating in this first stage of the Competition).
