NUI Galway proposes to undertake a major regeneration of the existing James Hardiman Library building (a protected structure) to fundamentally transform the library. The architectural and structural feasibility study undertaken by NUI Galway proposes a roof level extension to the existing building and a large atrium within the existing structure. It is envisaged that the project will be required to be completed in several phases while the library continues to operate. Further details of the project are contained in the project information memorandum published with the contract notice.
