The Irish ‘Government Policy Statement on the Strategic Importance of Transmission and Other Energy Infrastructure’ published 2012 underlined the appropriateness of incorporating community gain considerations into major energy infrastructure projects. In line with this policy statement, EirGrid currently has a number of energy infrastructure projects in Ireland eligible for a Community Fund, including Clashavoon – Dunmanway 100 kV line, North South Interconnector, Celtic Interconnector, North Connaught, and Laois – Kilkenny Reinforcement Scheme. The cumulative fund value will be in excess of 6 000 000 EUR.
