There is a second location on the campus, Hub 1 with separate HEAnet connectivity and large quantities of cross campus fibre to Hub 2, which will be used to increase resilience. In addition to resolving single points of failure there are a number of additional functions that need to be added to the existing solution with enhanced requirements such as porting the main telephone switch number which currently resides on legacy telephone infrastructure to Microsoft or the new telephony solution.
