Supply of Intraosseous Access Devices to National Ambulance Service

Health Service Executive (HSE)

Intraosseous access devices can be defined as the needle sets and associated accessories and components required to provide Intraosseous vascular access. The NAS requires a battery powered drill based intraosseous vascular access system due to the minimal force required for insertion, speed of insertion and vascular access success rate, which are all critical pre-requisites for the type, and level of care routinely provided by the NAS.
The system must be battery powered because manual-powered insertion is not suitable for NAS use and alternative sources of power may not be available particularly at roadside incidences.
