Description of the procurement
Delivery and award of Masters Degree in Leadership, Management and Defence Studies (LMDS) to students of The Military College, Irish Defence Forces as part of professional development of Irish and international Military Officers. This course will mainly be delivered at The Military College, Curragh Camp, Co Kildare, Ireland. Some modules/blocks/lectures or seminars may be delivered on campus with the successful institute. Specifically, the course is designed to prepare students for high-grade national and international assignments, including command, by developing their effective intellect, analytical research, decision-making and communication skills. Complementing this approach students will be given the opportunity to develop their professional knowledge through: focused assessment of single service, joint, combined and multi-agency operations; attaining an enhanced understanding of the higher management of Defence and; acquiring a comprehensive grasp of strategy, security and defence issues in political, and international contexts. The course will also equip officers with the skills needed to support and advise the senior leadership of the Defence Forces in order to enhance effective engagement with civil-servants, politicians, industry and wider society; to become defence advocates in the interests and service of the state. Successful completion of the course qualifies officers of the Army, Navy or Air Corps to: promote to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel/Commander and beyond; command formations of all components of the Defence Forces both at home and overseas; and to perform the higher staff work involved in the handling of such formations.
