The proposed new building would be closely integrated with the 2 completed phases and would lie within the same curtilage at the highest point of the old head peninsula with a direct view past the old head lighthouse to the point where the Lusitania wreck lies in 90 metres of water since 7.5.1915.
The project proposal also forms an integral part of the Cork coastal Maritime Heritage which begins with Spike Island in Cork harbour, including Fort Camden in Crosshaven, Charles Fort in Kinsale and extending to Bantry Bay.
