The Microbiology Laboratory is seeking to install an Automated multi-specimen Processing System within the Microbiology Department at St James's Hospital. The equipment must be an easy to use microprocessor controlled, fully automated inoculation, labelling and streaking instrument, capable of preparing smears for Gram Stain, and with data handling facilities. The system proposed must have bi directional interface capability with the Laboratory Information System (Telepath /MedLIS) and the cost of this must be borne by the company. The system proposed should be future proofed as far as reasonably practicable and upgrades to the system should be included. Preference will be given to those who can demonstrate that their instrument is part of an existing or planned โ€˜whole microbiology processโ€™ automated.
