Cork Docklands Flooding Residual Risk Study
Cork City Council seek tenders from a suitably qualified multi-disciplinary team with expertise in areas of risk assessment and management and property insurance. The team will be required to:
A) analyse existing policies and proposals for mitigating the risk associated with tidal and fluvial flooding from the River Lee at South Docklands
B) make recommendations relating to residual risk mitigation of development in Docklands in a defended Polder
C) assess and advise on the need for any additional flood modelling required to support the recommendations
The Tenderer will be required to review the policy and strategy of the South Docks Local Area Plan, and the key questions which need to be addressed by the consultant are:
โ Can the Docklands be developed as a polder as described in the Brief and be insurable by the insurance Industry (both public and private)
โ What are the key issues to satisfy the insurance industry of the viability of a perimeter protection policy (polder).
