Lumpfish broodstock and selective breeding programme 2017-2020

The Aquaculture Technical Section of BIM undertakes work programmes with the Irish Aquaculture Industry in accordance with the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and the National strategic Plan for Aquaculture.
As part of this process, it is proposed to engage a suitably qualified contractor to set up an Irish lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus) broodstock and selective breeding programme at a duly licensed marine research facility in Ireland. It is envisaged that this project will run over a four year period (2017-2020) and will be tied in with a separate genetic testing programme which will be the subject of another tender process.
