EirGrid and SONI, in their roles as TSO's in Ireland and Northern Ireland, have an
obligation to take various measures to minimise curtailment of priority dispatch
generation (mainly renewables), including the use of countertrading on
interconnectors. At present the market arrangements are giving rise to high
imports on interconnectors, even at times when priority dispatch generation
(including wind generation) is being curtailed in Ireland / Northern Ireland. The
East West Interconnector operates at 500 MW and the Moyle interconnector
currently operates at 450 MW import and 295MW export.
EirGrid and SONI now wish to engage an Energy Trading Partner to facilitate
counter-trading.

The contracting authority will not conclude this contract to which a standstill period applies in accordance with Irish Statutory Instrument, SI 130 of 2010, until after the expiry of the standstill period which commences on the day following the date of notification of concerned candidates and tenderers. The duration of the standstill period will be 14 calendar days where notifications are sent electronically or by fax and 16 calendar days where these are sent by any other means.
