Description of the procurement
Irish Water is currently advancing the Athlone Main Drainage Contract No. 2 โ Networks, comprising the construction of a new main lift pumping station, removal of storm overflows, new foul sewers, decommissioning of existing pumping stations and new large diameter trenchless pipeline (tunnel) sewers.
The Contract has been procured under a Negotiated Procedure and the form of contract is Design-Build-Operate.
The scope of the requirements to be provided as part of this project & contract include (but are not limited to) the design, construction, testing and commissioning of the following works at various sub-catchments:
๏ Design and construction of a new foul and storm water pumping station, control building, 4,100m3 storm water storage and associated ancillaries at Golden Island Pumping Station;
๏ Design and construction of a new foul and storm water pumping station, 110m3 storm water storage and associated ancillaries at Coosan West Pumping Station;
๏ Design and installation of various gravity sewers and rising mains (c.3km), using open cut and trenchless technology methods, meeting the requirements of the Scope, through public roads, and public and private lands;
๏ Design and installation of all required pipework and other ancillary works within the proposed Golden Island Pumping Station Site and proposed Coosan West Pumping Station Site;
๏ Decommissioning of 6 No. SWOs and upgrade of 1 No. SWO meeting the requirements of the Scope.
๏ Design and construction of a new overflow from Golden Island Pumping Station to the River Shannon;
๏ Decommissioning of the existing pumping stations at West Bank and Coosan West (both sub and superstructures);
๏ Demolition, decommissioning and disposal of the existing West Side and Abbey Road pumping stations (both sub and superstructures);
๏ Decommissioning of the existing Golden Island pumping station substructure and conversion of ground floor into open-plan storage area;
