Port of Cork Company

The former Bantry Bay Harbour Commissioners had retained RPS Consulting
Engineers to develop a scheme entitled โ€œBantry Inner Harbour Developmentโ€.
A Preliminary report was produced and presented to the Commissioners in February 2011. A redacted version of this report, together with the Site
Investigation factual report is attached in Annex 1.
Planning consent for the project was received from Cork County Council in August 2013 and full details of the planning documentation in relation to the application and its processing can be found by accessing the Cork County
Council Website www.corkcoco.ie
As part of the engagement by the Port of Cork Company with Bantry Bay Harbour
Commissioners prior to the transfer on the 1st of January 2014 a presentation was made by RPS Consulting Engineers, on behalf of the Commissioners, on the project, how it might be phased and related costs. A copy of this presentation can be found in Annex 2.
Prior to the transfer the Port of Cork Company engaged with a range of stakeholders but particularly the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport to devise a Phase 1 of the Scheme which:
โ€” Would attract funding from the Department to address โ€œurgent and remedialโ€ works.
โ€” Would be viable and affordable.
โ€” Could be delivered in a reasonable period of time.
โ€” Could be added to with later phases if additional funding became available.
โ€” Could hopefully be advanced within the planning consent already obtained.
Details of the Scheme devised and agreed are presented in Annex 3.
This is the Scheme for which the required technical and engineering services will relate.
