The Earth Institute within University College Dublin currently comprises over 80 principal investigators (faculty) and their teams with multidisciplinary expertise, who are associated with one or more of 8 key research themes: Water, Climate, Green Technologies, Energy and Resources, Sustainable Cities and Regions, Ecology and Evolution, Natural Hazards and Risk.
The Soil Science Group within the Institute wishes to purchase a laboratory / field deployable instrument to determine the trace gases CO2, CH4 and N2O and their stable isotope compositions. This equipment will be used for gas concentration and isotope measurements of environmental samples (soils, water, plants) and the analysis of solid samples (e.g. soil organic C).

Technical and professional ability:
Potential suppliers who participate in this tender will be required to run analyses of samples provided by the Earth Institute soon after the expiry of the tender deadline. The results of these analyses will have to be forwarded to the UCD Procurement Office within a specified period. The University will then require the highest scoring candidates to make a 45 min presentation at the UCD Earth Institute in the presence of the evaluation committee. The presentation should review the results obtained and should also include a detailed description of the software and of its analytical capabilities. Quality of the results and characteristics of the software will be key elements in the evaluation process. The dates for return of the analyses and any subsequent presentations will be communicated to potential suppliers after the tender closing date.
