UCC2013-12 - Provision of a High speed photonic device and system test-bed

University College Cork (UCC)

The Photonic Systems Group (PSG) at Tyndall National Institute develops advanced fibre-optic communication technologies that will underpin future global communication systems and the Internet. The group is researching technologies which range from short reach photonic interconnects for high performance computers and data centres (chip-to-chip, board-to-board and rack-to-rack) to wide- area networking solutions for fibre-to-the-home, metro and core networks. As part of the periodic upgrade of its test and measurement facilities, PSG wishes to purchase a state-of- the-art, multi-channel, Real-Time sampling Oscilloscope (RTO) for real-time high speed waveform capture and analysis. As a minimum requirement The RTO should support the capture and analysis of 28 Gbaud/sec signals.
