A summary of the scope of works is provided below.The design and construction of an extension to the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW) providing facilities to treat an average daily loading of primary effluent of 16,320 kg/day BOD-5 (24,480 kg/day BOD-5 at 95% loading rate) to secondary treatment standards including 25 mg/L BOD-5 and 35 mg/L TSS, both at a 95th percentile compliance rate, including (but not limited to) the following elements/works:— diversion and control of flows up to 2.7 m3/s of primary effluent from an existing concrete box conduit;— construction of a new pumping station or modifications to an existing pumping station to convey the diverted flow to the new facilities;— constructing the secondary treatment extension within a limited portion of the active WwTW;— returning the treated secondary effluent to the existing final effluent channel;— thickening, storing and conveying surplus activated sludge to existing solids treatment facilities;— diversion and control of a portion of the secondary effluent from the existing final effluent conduit to a new Effluent Fine Screening (EFS) Facility;— construction of a new EFS Facility that will treat flows up to 2.7 m3/s of secondary effluent and produce a screened effluent containing not more than 10 mg/L TSS;— works could involve the construction of a deep pipeline to the EFS Facility requiring pipe jacking for a portion of its length;— construction of an EFS effluent pumping station;— connection of the EFS effluent pumping station discharge to existing final effluent box culvert;— new transformers and switch gear to power the new works;— integrating all new instrumentation and control systems with the existing WwTW's SCADA system, and— miscellaneous site work including the excavation and off-site disposal of circa 10,000 m3 of spoil and most likely piled/deep foundations;The project will be constructed on an active WwTW. Prior to Contract Award, the successful Tenderer shall provide a Performance Bond, in the amount of 12.5% of the contract sum in a form approved by the Contracting Authority.
Subcontractors for specific works shall also be required to provide Collateral Warranties to the Contracting Authority in an approved form.
