NPHDB Appointment of Design Team โ€“ The appointment of a design team for the new children's hospital project at St. James' Hospital Campus, Dublin

National Paediatric Hospital Development Board

This Contract Notice is being published for the sole purpose of informing potential candidates of the proposed tender for the appointment of a Design Team in relation to the new children's hospital project.
The new children's hospital will merge the existing health services for children currently being provided at Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin, the Children's University Hospital Temple Street and the National Children's Hospital Tallaght. The project will accommodate full clinical facilities for the provision of national tertiary services, as well as secondary services for the Greater Dublin Area. These will include: Emergency Department, operating theatres, out patients and in patient care, with 384 single rooms. The new children's hospital incorporating two satellite centres will embrace contemporary healthcare management principles, academic and health science care and reflects best practice in acute hospital organisational design. The new children's hospital is being planned to realise these objectives within the context of a new national model of care for paediatric healthcare services. Part of the role of the Design Team will be to assist the NPHDB in developing its procurement strategy for the performance of the works. This may include procuring the works in a number of specialist works packages including:
- Enabling / decanting works, including demolitions and general site preparation to be carried out separately and in advance, potentially with host hospital as contracting authority.
- Satellite unit(s) which are off site and most likely to be procured separately.
- Sub structure works, including retaining structures, foundations, services diversions, road realignments and related civil & other engineering & temporary works.
- Main hospital build, shell core and envelope, constructed on the prepared platform described above. This would include major specialist packages of work related to mechanical, electrical, lifts, facades/curtain walling and the like.
- Specialist Hospital fit-outs, incl. all major equipment, in areas such as theatres, radiology, ICU; labs, and other departments.
