Iarnrรณd ร‰ireann โ€“ Irishrail will be seeking proposals from suitably qualified companies for the supply, installation, commissioning and support of an Acoustic Bearing Monitoring (ABM) system. The ABM system must be capable of accessing the condition of axle journal bearings on vehicles in operation and notifying relevant staff when these bearings are entering a degraded state. The ABM System must be capable of monitoring bearings on freight, locomotive hauled passenger stock, locomotives, diesel mutable units, electric multiple units as well as on track machinery. The System must also be capable of monitoring bearings on trains irrespective of their length and at speeds up to 160 km/hr The Acoustic Bearing Monitoring is to be provided for vehicles operating in both directions on single line track and installation will be required on Electrified and non-electrified track. Nominal Irish Rail gauge is 1600mm. The system should last for a minimum of 15 years. Tenderers will be initially invited to bid for three (3) possible location sites. The award of contract will be initially to complete one (1) site while IE retains the option of award the remaining two additional sites subject to financial approval. The location of the initial installation will be agreed post contract award, possible locations are; north of Connolly Station on the EMU network, Straffan on Intercity network and in the vicinity of Limerick station.
