Irish Prison Service

It is envisaged that the programme will be offered to all staff nationally in the Irish Prison Service, which is approximately 3 200 staff. A current list of where staff are located is provided at Appendix 1A og the attached RFT. Participation will be voluntary in the programme. The Irish Prison Service cannot provide guidance as to what percentage of Prison Staff may avail of such a programme.

Technical and professional ability:

— Proof of their medical and professional ability to provide a Health Screening programme which will involve a physical examination of participants. At a minimum, nursing staff must be registered to practice with An Bord Altranais and doctors must be registered to practice with the Medical Council. Evidence of nurse and doctor qualification to be provided.

— Confirmation that the programme will be overseen and the individual results delivered by a qualified medical doctor/nurse.

— References from at least three (3) organisations where they carried out similar Health Screening programmes. The following information must be included: (1) a brief statement outlining details of each contract; (2) a contact name, address and telephone number of the person in the recipient organisation with responsibility for the contract; (3) details of the role provided by the tendering firm in the course of the contract. In this connection, the Contracting Authority reserve the right to contact such person by way of obtaining reference material in the context of the services provided under the contract.

— Confirmation of their ability to provide all the required tests as outlined at Appendix 1 of the RFT

— Confirmation that their insurance policy, will indemnify the Irish Prison Service against any litigation due to laboratory error, failure to convey the significance of results to clients or failure to inform clients of relevant follow on actions required.

— Confirmation that they are in a position to accept, manage and deal with appointments both manually and electronically.

— Confirmation that their health screening personnel are fluent in English.
