ENQEIR392 โ€“ Ireland France Interconnector Project Marine Survey

EirGrid plc

The objective of this Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) process is to produce a short-list of suitably qualified companies who will be invited to tender for a Marine Survey for the Project.
RTE is the French Transmission System Operator (TSO).
The two national Transmission System Operators, EirGrid plc and RTE, have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to commission further preliminary studies on the feasibility of building a submarine electricity interconnector between Ireland and France (the Project).
An Ireland-France interconnector would, if developed, run between the south coast of Ireland and the north west coast of France, and would comprise a cable length of approximately 600 kilometres.
This document provides a description of RTE and EirGrid's requirements for this contract as well as details of the services we wish to procure. It also provides information about the selection procedure.
RTE and EirGrid are engaged in undertaking the Feasibility Phase of an Interconnector project between Ireland and France. This Feasibility Phase is divided into two stages, Stage 1 involves desktop studies to identify feasible land circuit routes, marine cable routes and landfall locations in Ireland and France, and Stage 2 involves marine survey of the preferred subsea cable route.
Stage 1 is due to be completed in early 2014 and RTE and EirGrid wish to procure a contractor for Stage 2 of the Feasibility Phase to undertake a Marine Survey.
RTE/EirGrid would like to invite a qualification application from competent companies to carry out geophysical, geotechnical, benthic and UXO seabed survey campaigns on a primary route crossing as directed by RTE/EirGrid and their marine advisors.
RTE/EirGrid envisage qualifying between 5 and 7 Candidates from this pre-qualification process, subject to the quality of responses received. It should be noted that RTE and EirGrid reserve the right to terminate the contract at any stage or after the completion of each campaign.
