Animation Programme to implement the initial elements of County Kildare Failte Ltd's Tourism Development Strategy 2013 – 2016 and to develop a framework for the execution of the overall strategy

County Kildare Fáilte Company Limited

In March 2013 County Kildare Fáilte Ltd launched a Tourism Development Strategy for County Kildare to cover the period 2013 to 2016. The Strategy was developed following extensive
consultations with a wide range of tourism stakeholders within the county over an eighteen month period. It was funded by means of grant support from County Kildare LEADER Partnership and membership fees, which facilitated the appointment of consultants to develop the strategy.
It represented a bottom-up approach with extensive engagement at all levels of the industry within the county and involved workshops, expert group meetings, one-to-one consultations, and submissions from groups and individuals associated with the industry.
The Strategy has identified a target of six strategic outcomes to be delivered over the plan period, the first outcome being a series of “Short Term Wins” during the first year of the plan.
If successfully implemented the strategy has the potential to significantly increase tourism activity within the county with resultant increase in employment and economic spin-off.
In order to implement the strategy County Kildare Fáilte Ltd has identified the need to appoint an individual or specialist consultancy to animate it, with particular emphasis on the early “Short Term Wins” and on the need to develop a framework for the execution of the remainder of the strategy within the targeted time-frame. Details of the Strategic Plan is available on our website www.intokildare.ie
The purpose of this tender is to identify a partner to work with County Kildare Fáilte Ltd to animate the Tourism Development Strategy for County Kildare, with particular emphasis on the delivery of the early targets set down in the strategy and on the development of a coherent framework for the execution of the overall plan.
It is envisaged that the animation programme will commence in September 2013, subject to the appointment of a suitable contractor and to the availability of funds.
