Schools Inventory Pilot Project

Department of Education & Skills

The pilot study is primarily a research and data-gathering project which involves an infrastructure assessment and planning study of primary and post-primary schools, and other related facilities within a selected number of geographic areas in the country. It will be developed under four distinct headings, namely:
a) A General Survey of existing School Facilities,
b) An Options and Appraisal study of existing School Facilities
c) An overview of Community Assets
d) School Location and the Development Plan.
When completed, the research information gathered from this pilot study should be presented in a format compatible with current Department information systems, such as the Esri (Ireland) Geographic Information System (GIS), allowing the Department to overlay the new information such as site maps, floor plans and other data on its current mapping system.
