Request for tender for review of the driving test and quality assurance of the driving test

Road Safety Authority (RSA)

The RSA wishes to review all aspects of the current driving
test with a view to establishing whether there are any areas
that should be removed, replaced or enhanced to ensure that
the test remains a valid and fair examination of a person's
driving. This should include an examination of what additions
could be made to the driving test with a view to bringing
greater added value to the driving test as a measurement tool
in the process of preparing drivers for a life of safe driving.
Taking the proposals put forward from the review of the driving
test, a set of standard procedures and marking guidelines will
be produced as part of this contract. The RSA also wishes to
review the quality assurance methods which are currently in
place to ensure uniformity of the driving test from tester to
tester and test centre to test centre. This review should take
into account current best practice in quality assurance
methods in comparable jurisdictions and comparable fields. A
set of proposals will be produced on foot of this review and
research in relation to the Irish driver testing system.
