Huntstown Power Company Limited

The first lot of this service contract is for the refurbishment of generator rotors (100 to 300 MVA), incorporating critical engineering upgrades to the rotor end windings and pole cross-over connections. This lot is mandatory and tenderer’s bid shall include this lot.
The second lot is for the maintenance services for the generator stators. This lot is mandatory and tenderer’s bid shall include this lot.
The third lot is for additional engineering improvements to the rotor end windings, shaft and retaining rings that the tenderer is capable of offering in order to improve reliability and integrity of the machine.
The fourth lot is for the provision of new or requalified generator rotors including all known critical upgrades. This lot is an alternative to lot 1.

The primary lot of this service contract is for the refurbishment of generator rotors, incorporating critical engineering upgrades to the rotor end windings and pole cross-over connections. This lot is mandatory and renderer’s bid shall include this lot.

Quantity or scope:

The scope is the refurbishment of generator rotors, incorporating critical engineering upgrades to the rotor endwindings and pole cross-over connections. The handover is intended to be defined from the point of the generator being at stand still, isolated from all sources of energy, but not decoupled. Therefore, the tenderer shall be responsible for all dismantling (including decoupling from the turbine), rotor withdrawal, packaging and transportation, etc. Related rotor equipment will also form part of the scope, including inspection of bearings, fan blades, brushes, etc. The preliminary acceptance of the rotor is intended to be at the point when the generator is available for re-commissioning and the final acceptance following the re-commissioning tests. This lot is mandatory and tenderer’s bid shall include this lot.

Critical upgrades: endwindings shall be designed in such a way as to avoid brazed corner joints; pole cross-over connection shall be designed in such a way as to avoid straight brazed connections.

Refurbishment methods: the methods considered for refurbishment to include reusing old copper or using new copper.

Detailed specification will be provided with the ITT.

Short description:

The lot is for the maintenance services for generator stators and related generator equipment.

Quantity or scope:

The scope is to comprise major inspections of generator stators, including, but not limited to, detailed condition assessment and testing, proposal of repairs and upgrades required or deemed beneficial in order to ensure reliable operation, performing the agreed repairs and upgrades.

Detailed technical specification will be available with the ITT.

Short description:

The lot is for additional engineering improvements to the rotor endwindings, shaft and retaining rings that the tenderer is capable of offering in order to improve reliability and integrity of the machine.

Quantity or scope:

The tenderer shall propose and provide supporting evidence and experience for additional engineering improvements to the following:

— rotor endwindings, e.g. field lead connection (J-strap) improvement,

— shaft and retaining rings, e.g. tooth and retaining ring machining to avoid cracking,

— other, depending on tendere's expertise.

Short description:

The lot is for provision of new or requalified generator rotors including all known critical upgrades, as an alternative to lot 1.

Quantity or scope:

The scope is the supply of generator rotors, incorporating critical engineering upgrades to the rotor endwindings, pole cross-over connections and any agreed additional upgrades (as defined in lots 1 and 3). The tenderer will also be responsible for removal of the old rotor and installation of the new, including dismantling and assembly, coupling and decoupling from the turbine, rotor withdrawal and installation, commissioning, etc, as well as inspection and maintenance of related rotor equipment.

New or requilified rotors may be offered by the tenderer. Detailed technical specification will be provided with the ITT.

All suppliers wishing to be considered for this contract shall provide Huntstown Power Company Limited with the following pre-qualification information in the English language:

— Company information i.e. locations of manufacturing and engineering premises, numbers of employees, skills,- Subcontractors utilised previously,

— Logistics capability,

— Q/A standards and warranty details,

— Insurance details,

— At least three years’ audited financial statements and annual reports,

— Bankers’ references.

Tenderers that are able to demonstrate the above capabilities will be issued with the Invitation to Tender (ITT) comprising detailed conditions and technical specifications. The deadline for submission of the above information to Huntstown Power Company Limited for the purposes of being placed on the list and receiving the invitation to tender and technical specifications for the services is 5.12.2012.

Technical and professional ability:

All suppliers wishing to be considered for this contract shall provide Huntstown Power Company Limited with the following pre-qualification information in the English language in respect of the scope description in II.1.5 and all the relevant categories in II.1.6:

— In respect of lot 3, information concerning the full range of capabilities to carry out the additional rotor upgrades; details of similar contracts completed and in progress; information on engineering and R&D capabilities; information on the facilities, test equipment, machinery and tooling; quality control provisions and procedures,

— In respect of lot 4, information concerning the full range of capabilities to manufacture or requalify generator rotors; details of similar contracts completed and in progress; information on the facilities, test equipment, machinery and tooling; quality control provisions and procedures.
