University College Cork (UCC)

UCC are in the process of equipping a PRTLI funded GMP Bioprocessing Unit, located in the Food Hall, Food Science Complex. There is a requirement within the Food and Health research programme for the production of food bioactive substances under conditions of GMP that can be tested in clinical and dietary intervention trials. In Ireland there is currently no GMP unit for pilot scale production of food bioactives either for trialling (dietary/clinical) or for compliance testing.
UCC Bioprocessing GMP unit aims to bring functional food ingredients from discovery to GMP-compliant production on a pilot scale.
