The solution proposed should include: — High-density SATA disk arrays providing a total of approximately 700TB usable storage when configured with RAID 6 (or equivalent data protection), — Disk controllers should feature at least dual 8Gbps Fibre Channel interfaces and redundant power supply units should be included in each chassis, — Storage density must be at least 20TB per standard rack unit (1U or 44.5mm), — Storage Area Network Fabric providing full redundancy with 8Gbps bandwidth or greater, — All requisite SAN interconnects must be included, — Two front-end file servers should be included in the proposals in order to export the storage to remote users using a number of specialist repository and Data Grid systems. It is envisaged that these servers will be configured as a High Availability Virtual Machine platform. VMware compliance and accreditation must be assured for any hardware being tendered. Each server must include a dual port HBA to match the proposed SAN interconnect, — All requisite rack-mounting hardware for supplied equipment along with power leads using IEC 320-C13 connections for connection to existing power distribution units, — A 10 Gigabit Ethernet 24-port top-level switch should be included.
