Professional Services and Management of WorldWise Global Schools

Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade/An Roinn Gnóthaí Eachtracha agus Trádála

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), through Irish Aid, is launching a new post-primary schools programme in 2012 and requires expert professional services that will take primary responsibility, oversight and quality assurance of the overall programme.
Irish Aid provides a range of support for development education initiatives at post-primary level under the extended Development Education Strategy 2007-2015. It supports the WorldWise school linking and immersion scheme, along with awards, school based activities, resource development, capacity building and teacher education. This support is currently managed by the Development Education and Civil Society Section (DECS) within Irish Aid (support is primarily provided through the development education grants scheme with the delivery of the WorldWise School Linking and Immersion programme contracted to an external specialist service provider).
A review of support for development education, (Appendix B) recommended a more strategic approach in post-primary schools. In response, the Department now plans to launch the WorldWise Global Schools programme with a view to adopting a more integrated and programmatic approach to support for development education at post primary level. The new programme will combine all support to post-primary schools under one new programme, which will be branded Irish Aid’s WorldWise Global Schools.
The Department now wishes to invite tenders for the provision of expert professional services for the WorldWise Global Schools programme from organisations or consortia with the appropriate skills and competencies to deliver the services set out in this tender document. The programme will run for the period September 2012 until May 2016.
