Short description:

RTE intends to replace part of the existing News Production System. The system being replaced include but are not limited to the following: Avid Unity Media Network, Avid Airspeeds, Avid Control Air and Avid Nearchive. RTE also intend to expand the system to include remote browse and editing functionality. The proposed solution will continue to interface with the existing AVID News Room Control system (iNews) and editing application. The successful contractor may also supply additional ad hoc hardware/software for the News Production System as may be required by RTE ove the course of the framework agreement.

Procedure
Justification of the accelerated procedure:

The reason for using the accelerated restricted procedure is the prevent On Air failures caused by the existing system instability. Recent system failure which highlight the difficulty with sourcing spare parts and the inevitability of complete system failure which will impact on the continous News production initiative to feed all RTE's platforms. RTE cannot afford transmission risks and intend to use the Accelerated Restricted Procedure to replace the existing News production system in a timley manner.
